About Burgins of York Perfumery

Burgins Perfumery is a long-established independent retailer of scents and men's shaving accessories in the heart of the historic centre of York.

We are more than a retailer of fragrances. Our staff are highly knowledgeable and skilled in helping to identify new and exciting fragrances to suit you, or alternatives to complement your current favourites.

We employ a personalised bespoke fragrance matching service - designed to match your first-worn, long-lost or current fragrance with one tailored to your own unique skin-type and personal fragrance profile. Buying for a friend? Just find out what they have been using and we will be able to suggest matched individualised fragrances from a vast selection of major, bespoke, exclusive and traditional brands, be it classic, retro or modern.

Burgins Perfumery is steeped in history and has occupied the present building in York since 1880. Originally opened as a chemist which included in-house mixed scents, over a period of years the concentration on fragrances increased to where we are today as a dedicated perfumery.

Our tradition has always been to offer outstanding customer service, with a quality shopping experience which draws customers back repeatedly, not just from within the UK, but visitors who return to York craving a little bit of heritage. Hanuš Wolf, who bought the business in 2011, is only the fourth owner in over 135 years of trading. Hanuš is committed to retaining Burgins’s unique charm, ambience and customer values.

Burgins is proud to say that it does not just sell fragrance – knowledgeable staff dispense it, just like the pharmacists of yesteryear.

We also have a selection of associated unique gifts, special offers, free gift-wrapping, and are open for seven-day trading and late night events to further enhance your shopping experience.

Disabled Access: our shop is fully accessible, however if you have any specific needs, please call us in advance to ensure we are able to meet them.
